SUMMARY:2 Week Cruise Planning Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our annual two-week cruise planning meeting will be held on Sun
day\, February 2nd at the West Islip library. We have room B reserved for
the entire afternoon (1PM - 5PM) with a meeting start time of 1:15. While
I will facilitate the meeting\, there are many of you that have extensive
cruising experience that I do not possess. As such\, this meeting invitati
on is extended to all even if you do not plan to participate in the cruis
e this year. If you have pertinent knowledge that would be beneficial t
o those of us planning to be on the cruise\, we would certainly welcome y
our expertise. For those planning to attend\, please come prepared with t
houghts\, ideas\, concerns. For anyone considering participating for the f
irst time\, any and all of your concerns can be addressed. I was new to t
he two-week cruise just two summers ago\, and I can attest that my fears/c
oncerns were put to rest by our knowledgeable\, helpful fellow SBCC partic
ipants. My first time was the best sailing experience of my life\, and I e
ncourage all considering to take the plunge for the first time\, to do so!
This meeting is a great place to start!\n\n\n\nThe primary goals of this
meeting are:\n\n\n Determine who will be the Cruise captain. (If someon
e will step up to lead this cruise during this meeting\, the planning proc
ess will get a huge head start. Reservations will need to be made and typi
cally\, spots fill up quickly over the winter.)\n What locations should b
e considered. (Hopefully decide on a general destination.)\n Will there b
e a three-week component of the cruise? Who would be interested?\n How ma
ny ports do we want to visit within the two-weeks? (More ports\, or more l
ay days?)\n\nFollowing the two-week portion of the meeting I will open up
the floor for discussion of the One-Week cruise. Again\, at this meeti
ng\, I really hope to have a volunteer step up to lead the cruise. Come wi
th your ideas for this year's cruise. What destinations\, activities\, etc
. did you like or dislike? What new activities would you like to see? All
topics relative to the cruise are open for discussion!\n\nFinally\, I stil
l have seven rendezvous dates available for the 2025 season. Please consid
 er hosting! Currently\, the open dates are: 5/3\, 5/24\, 6/28\, 7/12\, 7/1
9\, 8/9\, and 10/18. \n\nKeep in mind that we endeavor to have a complete
d schedule lined up for publishing in the Yearbook. We want to give our Ye
arbook publisher\, Jay Pizer\, adequate time to put the book together. Com
pleting the rendezvous schedule would give him the ability to put together
that section early on in the publishing process. \n\nA zoom call will be
set up for anyone wishing to attend but are unable to attend in person. I
do\, however\, strongly encourage in-person participation. The zoom call
link will be sent in a separate email prior to the meeting date. \n\nI h
ope you are all looking very much forward to the 2025 cruising season and
that I will see many of you on the 2nd of February!\n\nUntil then\, Happy
  Winter!\n\nJoe Werkmeister\nFleet Captain\n\n
