Labor Day Weekend Rendezvous
How did the summer go by so fast? In just a few weeks, it will be Labor Day weekend. Labor Day this year is Monday, September 7 th. The rendezvous that weekend celebrating SBCC’s 75 th birthday will be held in Bellport on Saturday, September 5 th. A request to have a gathering in the Bellport Bay Park was sent to Town Hall and permission was denied so we have come up with a fantastic alternative.
The rendezvous is going to be combined with a party that Bellport Bay Yacht Club is holding at Diane and John Pokorney’s house at 41 Brewster Lane, Bellport. The Pokorneys have kindly agreed to have SBCC members join the party! You can still come by boat or car. There is street parking in the neighborhood and they have a small private beach where we can pull our dinghies up. The house is visible from the water and is about 7 houses east of the park.
It will start at 6:30 (giving the racers time to get there after racing in the Bellport Invitational). Everyone should continue with tradition and bring an appetizer to share. Jay and Stephanie Pizer are hosting the rendezvous that weekend and will be bringing a big birthday cake to this party. Do not bring alcohol – there will be a cash bar. Please make sure to wear your name tag.
This will be a great way to have a rendezvous, celebrate 75 years of the club and get to know fellow sailors and racers at Diane and John’s house. We really hope to see you there.
