Our annual two-week cruise planning meeting will be held on Sunday, February 2nd at the West Islip library. We have room B reserved for the entire afternoon (1PM – 5PM) with a meeting start time of 1:15. While I will facilitate the meeting, there are many of you that have extensive cruising experience that I do not possess. As such, this meeting invitation is extended to all even if you do not plan to participate in the cruise this year. If you have pertinent knowledge that would be beneficial to those of us planning to be on the cruise, we would certainly welcome your expertise. For those planning to attend, please come prepared with thoughts, ideas, concerns. For anyone considering participating for the first time, any and all of your concerns can be addressed. I was new to the two-week cruise just two summers ago, and I can attest that my fears/concerns were put to rest by our knowledgeable, helpful fellow SBCC participants. My first time was the best sailing experience of my life, and I encourage all considering to take the plunge for the first time, to do so! This meeting is a great place to start!
The primary goals of this meeting are:
- Determine who will be the Cruise captain. (If someone will step up to lead this cruise during this meeting, the planning process will get a huge head start. Reservations will need to be made and typically, spots fill up quickly over the winter.)
- What locations should be considered. (Hopefully decide on a general destination.)
- Will there be a three-week component of the cruise? Who would be interested?
- How many ports do we want to visit within the two-weeks? (More ports, or more lay days?)
